This is the method preferred by management students and those pursuing science subjects. Here, data collection is done through surveys or random sampling and data is in numeric form. Hence, the measurement and analysis of data is easier and clear cut results can be reached.
The former differs from the latter in the sense that it also seeks the ‘why’ and ‘how’ elements of issues that are being studied. In a quantitative study, students concentrate on ‘what’, ‘where’ and ‘when’. Experiments are common in this approach, while ethnography is a popular practice under qualitative method.
